For many children still in their teens, there will be no concept of the way things were in the20th century. However, for those of us who are older, we can remember a lot of things that we used to do that have now been replaced by something more modern.
For example, some of us can remember the days when – if your father owned a car – everyone considered that you were rich! We used to do sums – addition, division, multiplication, and so on – in our heads, because not only were there no computers, there weren’t even any calculators!
Hard as it may be to consider, we are now well into the 21st century – believe it or not, we are already one sixth of the way through it (!) – and many things have change, in most cases for the better.
Something Mundane Like Laundry
Take something as mundane as laundry, for instance. Just after the Second World War, mom would do the weekly wash by hand in the sink! Then washing machines came in, and everyone used one to do the washing. Tumble driers came along later, and we all used them so that the washing could be done and dusted in a day. We thought it couldn’t get any better.
But our lives got busier, and there came a point when we didn’t have the time to do the washing – even with those fancy machines. So DIY became GSETDIFY – Get Someone Else To Do It For You! Wash and fold became the rage. We’d sort out all the laundry into what needed a hot wash, woollens that needed a warm wash, and suits and dresses that needed dry cleaning.
Get in the car (we all have one of those today) and take it all down to the laundry. Tomorrow or the next day get into the car again, drive to the laundry where it had been washed and folded (or dry cleaned as necessary), pick it up and take it all home.
Some of us spent almost as long on trips back and forth to the laundry as we used to on doing it at home! Silly, or what?
Now We Are In 2016, So Use 21st Century Wash and Fold
But now we are in 2016, and Stamford residents can take care of Stamford CT wash and fold the 21st century way. It doesn’t get any easier than this.
All you do is pile all your laundry into bags – no need to sort it out – and leave it outside the front door (or in the garage or somewhere else we have agreed) before you go to work.
Commuter Cleaners’ driver will pick it up, bring it back to our laundry in Cove Road where it is sorted and washed or dry cleaned as required, and then deliver it back to you. If it’s urgent, you can have it back the same day. You don’t even have to be at home to pay the driver: we’ll just debit your card at the end of the month. Easy, or what?
Stamford CT wash and fold has been brought into the 21st century by the good folks at Commuter Cleaners. It’s the only way to do your laundry in 2016.
